Mark once said “Did I ever tell you how much I like playing music?” Not really. Actually, he has said it hundreds of time. Yes, its true Mark, like any musician, loves playing music. For over 30 years music has been part of Mark’s life. He enjoys and respects such a diverse blend of music from country, bluegrass and rock to blues. From the rocker days of wearing leather pants… yikes!, to the upbeat heartfelt sounds of bluegrass, Mark sees the best in all of it. He has been influenced by so many artists and groups such as- Heart, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Bill Monroe, and BB King. Whatever song Mark is playing, you will definitely see energy, enthusiasm and a bold passion. Mark’s love of music has brought him to bands like: Razers Edge, Cooked Grass and Truman’s Ridge.
Mark keeps a smile from the moment he presents that first pleasant greeting to you to the last “take care!” after the gig while the last of the instruments are being hauled out to the bus, Mark’s vibrant and contagious personality is reflected in every gig, every song and every note. While Mark’s strengths revolve around mandolin, fiddle, and guitar, mark also serves-up a healthy dose of harmony and back-up vocals. Mark is also a songwriter. Mark’s songwriting is upbeat and is more countryfied than sittin’ out in the boat on a warm summer morning waiting for that “big one” to bite.
Mark’s vast experience as an accomplished musician also boasts studio time and recording. Mark has recorded songs with other musicians that earned a nomination for “bluegrass song of the year”. If you don’t see Mark crankin’ the fiddle out on the dance floor or plucking that ol’ mandolin, you just might see him on that warm summer morning out in the boat, soaking the line and waiting for that “big one” to bite. If you ask Mark how the fish are bitin’, you just might get…
“By the way, did I ever tell you how much I love playing music?”
